Is WARDOGS on PS5, Xbox or Game Pass? Consoles Confirmed for 2028
WARDOGS is on Steam PC now. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are officially planned for 2028 with live store pages—no date, price, Game Pass library, or crossplay yet.

Is WARDOGS on Xbox Game Pass?
Does WARDOGS have crossplay between PC and consoles?
When do console versions launch, and what will they cost?
Is the PC version worth buying now, and how is controller support?
Short answer: WARDOGS is playable on PC (Steam) right now and nowhere else. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S are officially on the roadmap for 2028, with live wishlist pages on both stores—not vague “consoles someday” copy. What is still missing is everything players usually want next: a specific date, a console price, a Game Pass library deal, and any crossplay or cross-save promise with Steam. This page tracks those facts with evidence grades so you are not guessing from thumbnails or forum posts.

WARDOGS is developed by Bulkhead and published by Team17. The September 10, 2026 Games Press release (same day as Steam Early Access) states that the game is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox in 2028, with wishlisting on both console platforms from that day. That replaces the older reading of “consoles in 2028 but no platform named”—PS5 and Xbox are named in the press release and in each store.
What you can play today: the Steam PC build. Console pages describe a 2028 product—not something you can download yet.

What do the PlayStation and Xbox store pages say?
We re-read both listings on 2026-10-20. They agree on the broad picture (2028, no price, no calendar date) and disagree only where each platform’s policy fields differ.
PlayStation Store (concept/10020847)
- Publisher: Team17 Software Ltd.
- Release window: 2028 (no month or day).
- Platform label: PS5 Version.
- Online play: PS Plus required for online play.
- Player count: Supports up to 99 online players with PS Plus.
- DualSense: Vibration feature supported (store metadata).
- Price: Not shown pre-launch.
Grade: Official — PlayStation Store.
Xbox Store (9p55z0jjgvwn)
- Publisher / developer: Team17 Digital Ltd / BULKHEAD.
- Platform: Optimized for Xbox Series X|S; MATURE 17+.
- Online multiplayer: Listed as Online multiplayer (2-100).
- Subscription note: Online multiplayer on console requires Xbox Game Pass Essential, Premium, or Ultimate (subscription sold separately).
- Capability tags: Include Xbox cross-platform multiplayer, 4K, achievements.
- Price / date: Not listed.
Grade: Official — Xbox Store for every bullet above. The cross-platform tag is discussed below—it is not proof of Steam crossplay.
Both store pages list Team17 as publisher and live on Sony’s and Microsoft’s own storefronts—that carries more weight than a trailer end card alone.
Game Pass: do not mix up two different things
Players search “WARDOGS Game Pass” for two unrelated questions. Keep them separate:
-
Multiplayer subscription requirement (Xbox console) — The Xbox Store explicitly says console online multiplayer needs Xbox Game Pass Essential, Premium, or Ultimate. That is Microsoft’s online access layer for console multiplayer, not a statement that WARDOGS is included in the Game Pass game catalog. Official — Xbox Store.
-
Game Pass library inclusion — There is no announcement that WARDOGS will be added to Xbox Game Pass (or PC Game Pass) on launch or later. The September 10 press release and both store pages are silent on a subscription bundle. Unannounced.
Until Team17 or Microsoft issue a dedicated Game Pass press line, treat “requires Game Pass tier for online” and “ships on Game Pass” as opposite answers.
Crossplay and cross-save
Cross-save: No source we checked mentions shared progression between Steam and consoles. Unannounced.
Crossplay: The Xbox Store’s Xbox cross-platform multiplayer capability is a generic Microsoft label used across many titles. It does not name Steam, PC, or PlayStation pools. Bulkhead and Team17 have not published a crossplay matrix for WARDOGS. Unannounced for PC ↔ console play.
Why we stress the distinction: WARDOGS runs a persistent cash economy and kernel-level anti-cheat (Elytra) on PC. Even if consoles share architecture with Series X|S, cross-platform matchmaking is a separate product and security decision—not confirmed by a store tag.

What about PS6 and Xbox Project Helix?
IGN published an interview on 2026-10-09 (Cade Onder) with Bulkhead leadership about ports beyond current-gen hardware.
- Co-founder Howard Philpott on next-gen (PS6 / Xbox Project Helix): ✂ “I think there’s not too much to consider… From our perspective, it’s a straight port.” Reported (IGN).
- Senior producer Kane Allard said the studio is talking with platform holders, must pass certification, and once the game runs on base Xbox and PlayStation hardware, shipping on next-gen should not add much extra work. Reported (IGN).
- IGN’s article states both PS6 and Project Helix lack an official release window from Sony or Microsoft. Reported (IGN).
A separate IGN piece quotes CEO Joe Brammer calling Xbox Series S ✂ “very low-end hardware for a game like Wardogs” and linking that constraint to dynamic weather features the team is not pursuing on that SKU. Reported (IGN). That is not the same as Season 2’s rain preset on PC (official patch content)—do not merge the two topics.
Controller quality: Philpott told IGN pad support is in an ✂ “okay serviceable state, but really it needs to be a lot better” and noted hiring a professional Halo player to improve it. Reported (IGN). Season 2 also added an Aim Assist strength slider under Settings > Controller > Advanced on PC (Official — Season 2 patch notes on Steam, gid 1846651706674560). For baseline PC pad tuning, see best controller settings.
Timing vs 1.0: Outlets such as GamingBolt and VGTimes have relayed hopes that console versions ideally align with 1.0. That is Reported, not copied from Bulkhead’s press release. Only 2028 is Official.

Early Access pricing and which platform to buy
- $39.99 — Steam Early Access price from September 10, 2026 (Official — Steam store).
- Supporter tier — Higher entry tier exists on Steam for players who want to back the project harder; see the store listing for current perks.
- Version 1.0 price — Not published in any official channel we track. Bulkhead’s Early Access disclaimer only promises a higher price at full release without naming a figure.
Early Access purchases are tied to the store you buy on. Industry default: no cross-buy from Steam to PlayStation or Xbox unless explicitly promised—and nothing in the Games Press release or store pages promises cross-buy. Buy for the platform you will actually play on; today that is PC.
For written commitments, Supporter vs standard, and how long Early Access might run, see WARDOGS Early Access duration and price. For whether the loop fits you, start with the beginner guide; for a one-page overview of the game itself, with the Steam price and system requirements, see what is WARDOGS. Launch issues on PC are covered in EAC and launch error fixes. Roadmap context—including Season 2—is on the roadmap and Season 2 hub.
Servers, ping limits, and playing with friends on PC
Console plans do not change how PC matchmaking works right now. After Season 2 (Update 0.2.0) on October 15, 2026, official patch notes add server-browser and ping rules worth knowing if you squad up on Steam:
- Regional ping ceiling — Players who stay above the limit can be kicked; after a kick they cannot rejoin the same server until the next map change. Official — Season 2 patch notes (Steam, gid 1846651706674560).
- Server browser — Shows ping labels and supports filtering by ping. Official — Season 2 patch notes (Steam, gid 1846651706674560).
- Community hosts — Can set their own ping cap. Official — Season 2 patch notes (Steam, gid 1846651706674560).
- Controller — Settings > Controller > Advanced adds an Aim Assist strength slider (default 1; 0 disables). Official — Season 2 patch notes (Steam, gid 1846651706674560).
These sit alongside older browser splits (Official vs Community) from pre-Season 2 maintenance. For join failures, empty lists, or kick loops, use the connection troubleshooting ladder and server browser empty fixes. Full change list: Update 0.2.0 patch notes.

How we keep this page updated
This is a living status page, not a one-off launch article.
- Verify against official sources — Bulkhead / Team17 channels, Games Press, and platform store metadata—before anything enters the table.
- Change
lastModifiedwhenever facts move (currently 2026-10-20 for the PS5 / Xbox confirmation pass). - No rumor stuffing — Leaks and thumbnail titles do not upgrade a row from Unannounced to Official.
If you are waiting on console: wishlist PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on the official stores and follow Bulkhead and Team17 directly. If you play on PC today, bookmark this page—we flip rows the moment pricing, dates, Game Pass, or crossplay get a primary-source sentence.
